How A 10-YEAR ANNIVERSARY BECAME A POSITIONING PLAY
Ten years in business is worth celebrating. But if you're not careful, an anniversary campaign can quickly become a highlight reel of old photos, thank-you messages, and a logo with a number slapped on it.
When Kali Buchanan Interior Design approached its 10-year anniversary, we saw a bigger opportunity.
Not just to celebrate where the brand had been. To clarify where it was going.
The Ask
KBID entered its tenth year with something many brands spend decades trying to build: a recognizable point of view, a trusted reputation, and a portfolio of work that speaks for itself.
The challenge wasn't awareness. It was articulation.
How do you celebrate a milestone without making it feel like a nostalgia tour?
How do you use a moment that's inherently backward-looking to reinforce the future of the brand?
The answer wasn't creating an anniversary campaign. It was creating a positioning platform.
The Insight
Beautiful spaces are expected. That's the baseline. What sets KBID apart is what happens beneath the surface.
Their work sits at the intersection of design expertise and real-world execution. They understand the creative vision, but they also understand the realities of construction, collaboration, timelines, budgets, and the countless decisions required to bring a project to life.
They're not simply designing rooms. They're guiding clients through an entire process.
That's where the value lives. That's where the story was.
The Platform: Design With Depth
From that insight came the campaign platform: Design With Depth.
A simple idea that captures what makes KBID different. Because depth isn't just about aesthetics. It's about understanding how a home functions. How people live. How design decisions ripple through every phase of a project.
The platform was supported by four proof points:
Design that understands the build
True partnership throughout the process
Start-to-finish accountability
Beauty that endures
We also evolved the visual system to support the story.
A custom anniversary lockup created a clear campaign identifier, while a framing device inspired by the parenthetical shape within the KBID logo became a recurring visual element throughout the campaign. The result felt familiar, intentional, and unmistakably connected to the existing brand.
Not a departure. An evolution.
The Work
The campaign showed up everywhere KBID's audience interacts with the brand.
✔️ Across social media.
✔️ Website anniversary banners.
✔️ Email signatures and digital communications.
✔️ A media-ready press release.
✔️ Kansas City Business Journal advertising.
✔️ Invitation suites.
✔️ Branded gift concepts.
And a collection of supporting assets leading up to the firm's new studio opening and anniversary celebration this August.
Every touchpoint worked together to tell the same story. Not "we've been around for ten years." But "here's why we've been around for ten years."
The Takeaway
Longevity is proof.
Positioning is what makes people understand why it matters.
The strongest anniversary campaigns don't just celebrate the past. They sharpen the future.
For KBID, Design With Depth became more than a campaign theme. It became a clearer expression of who they are, how they work, and why clients trust them with some of the most personal spaces they'll ever create.
And that's a milestone worth building on.
